NEWS: Organization of an international experience exchange event in Rhodes, Greece
The Development Agency of the South Aegean Region – READ S. A., member of the PREVENT project partnership, successfully organized an experience exchange event on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the South Aegean Regional Council Hall in the island of Rhodes.
Ms. Mara Antoniadi, President of the Development Agency of the South Aegean Region and Regional Councilor in charge of European Programmes, opened the event with a brief address, the participants and the speakers. READ S.A.’s CEO Mr. Ioannis Minatsis as well as the Agency’s staff members were also present with Ms Stella Roubeti moderating the meeting.

This was followed by a presentation of the project’s key points and objectives by Professor Dora Foti from the University of Bari and project leader, who honored the event with her presence. Ms. Efi Anastasopoulou then presented the programme’s communication activities implemented so far.
Next, Mr. Omiros Papadopoulos and Mr. Giorgos Balaskas from project partner NCSR Demokritos presented “AI for Maritime Pollution Sensing – Mobile Crowd Data, Visual Analysis and Document Intelligence for Pollution Monitoring”, introducing the attendees to the platform that is being developed by the NCSR Demokritos in the framework of PREVENT.
The Hydrobiological Station of Rhodes – HCMR was represented by Ms. Vivian Louizidou, Biologist – Oceanographer, who informed the audience about “Plastic Pollution and last but not least, Mr. Sotiris Nikolaou, Director and Co-Founder of the NGO Mediterranean Company Environmental Protection – MEPP made a very informative presentation of the Work of MEPP.
