NEWS: Help us PREVENT Marine Pollution in Rhodes, Greece

As part of PREVENT project, PP5 – Development Agency of the South Aegean Region –READ S.A. successfully held an experience-sharing event on Thursday, June 19 2025, in the South Aegean Regional Council Hall. During the event, the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”, also a project partner, presented the new digital platform developed specifically for the needs of PREVENT.

The platform includes a modern mobile application that allows users to actively contribute to the detection and mitigation of marine pollution. Specifically, users can photograph the location where pollution is observed — either at sea or on the coast — and submit the image through the app. The visual material is stored in a database supported by artificial intelligence (AI), facilitating the recording, processing, and management of pollution incidents.

As of today, the application is available to the general public via both the Google Play Store and the App Store for ios users.
